We have implemented several safety measures to ensure the continued safety and wellbeing of clients, their families, staff and the community.
By strengthening and further enforcing our existing rigorous health and safety measures, MCWA continues to play a key role in supporting you during these unprecedented times.
In line with the Government Guide For Home Care Providers, MCWA has implemented the following just to name a few;
ORGANISATION PLANNING
- Review processes and how they apply to the current situation
- Flexible working arrangements for staff
- Additional check-in calls to both clients and staff
ACCESSING PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) & OTHER RESOURCES
- Wearing additional disposable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all personal care and home care which includes, face masks, gloves, shoe covers, full bodysuits/gowns, face shields, aprons and hairnets.
- Hand sanitiser and/or liquid soap is available for staff delivering face to face care.
- Review cleaning practices, and implement regular, scheduled cleaning of frequently touched objects and services
STAFF
- Clearly communicate to staff that monitoring their own health will help ensure that the people they care for are protected and safe.
- Provide regular updates to staff as new information is released.
- Keep records of training, particularly training relating to infection prevention and control.
- All staff must perform hand hygiene before and after every contact with a consumer.
- Staff are strongly advised to view the PPE training videos at health.gov.au.
CONSUMERS/CLIENTS
- Update consumers’ records, including their contact details, emergency contact details, and current GP.
- Identify any consumers who are considered to be at high risk of serious illness from COVID-19.
- Temperature checks before entering the homes of clients
