The Individual Social Support Programme is provided free to elderly or disabled persons who are living at home and may feel isolated. Those wishing to access this service need to apply to the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).
Community Visitor Scheme
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is available to recipients of Australian Government subside, residential aged care services (CHSP) or Home Care Packages (HCP) who have been identified by their aged care provider as experiencing or at risk of experiencing social isolation, whether for social or cultural reasons or because of disability.
People receiving HACC services are not eligible.
The aim is to enrich the quality of life of people who are using home care packages. In this program, volunteers provide companionship to socially isolated people. This role is very rewarding and positive that requires commitment from volunteers.
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) matches community volunteers with aged care recipients who provide one-to-one visits on a regular basis with in residential care setting or for people receiving home care packages. Group visits within the residential homes are also part of the CVS. Any care recipient whose quality of life could be improved by the companionship of a regular community visitor can be referred to the CVS, by their aged care provider.

How do I become a CVS volunteer within the MCWA?
A community visitor is a person who volunteers to visit and befriend a care recipient receiving Government Subsidised Aged Care services (residential aged care and home care packages).
To become a volunteer at MCWA, all you need is an enthusiastic approach and passion for helping others. Although a sound knowledge of the Macedonian language is a benefit, there are still opportunities for people of other backgrounds as Aged care recipients come from a variety of different social and cultural backgrounds.
Volunteering as a community visitor can be a rewarding experience.
By befriending an older person, volunteers have a chance to make a positive difference to the care recipient’s life – as well as their own.
