The Macedonian Village Games were held on 30 th of March at the monastery St. Prohor Pchinski in Donnybrook. The event was attended by over 400 pensioners across the Melbourne metropolitan region. The main visitors came from the northern and western corridors of the Macedonian populated areas.
The Macedonian Village Games were organised by MCWA under the project Suitable and Healthy Ageing in Australia which is supported by the Australian Government.
Event participant and organizer all regarded the day as a complete and total success. The games bringing back childhood memories and ambitions, attempting activities as they would have in younger years. Place winners of each of the games were awarded certificates and the jubilation and happiness present of receiving these certificates was irreplaceable.
The MCWA president Menka Kitanovski opened speeches by congratulating organiser and guests. She introduced guest speakers from interstate Biljana Stanoevska and City of Whittlesea Mary Lalios for their attendance in participating in such a memorable event.
Bean Soup, a traditional Macedonian meal was served for lunch. This was prepared as it would have been as they were growing up.
