The Macedonian Community Welfare Association currently is working on a project called Reducing Gambling Frequency with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities in partnership with HealthWest.
The aim of this project is to raise awareness of the harmful effects of electronic gambling machines and to reduce access to gambling products and minimise outings to such venues by senior groups.
On the 27th of April and 30th of April two forums were held with the leaders of the Macedonian Senior Groups –Western and Northern Region, discussing gambling as a public health issue and how to reduce organised trips to gambling avenues, giving the groups alternative outing solutions.
All the senior leaders have shown interest to be actively involved in this project, aiming to reduce trips to gambling avenues and informing their members that going to casino or other gambling venues is not a cheap day out and there are many alternative venues that would be quiet enjoyable without falling in the gambling roller coaster.
